Tail forked; Preopercular bone rounded; no fang-like teeth on vomer (central bone in roof of mouth); teeth on upper jaw visible when mouth is closed; scale texture coarse; eyed side dark brown; blind side dirty white; young spotted; upper eye below top of head; anterior nostril of blind side with a large flap.
