Body slender, black to dark brown when scales are present, typically beige to white when scales are stripped; photophores cover body; infracaudal gland on ventral side of caudal penducle typically retained, white when present, with 7-9 scales that fill entire space

Occurence: Bering Sea to Baja California, Japan

Depth: 0-2900 meters    Size: 13 cm
