Body slender, black to dark brown when scales are present, typically beige to white when scales are stripped; photophores cover body; infracaudal gland on ventral side of caudal penducle typically stripped, gray when present, with 5-6 scales that fill 3/4ths the space

Occurence: Bering Sea to N California, Japan

Depth: 300-1000 meters    Size: 14 cm
