Body color brownish gray, 3 dark saddles dorsally, males with two dark patches on edge of 1st dorsal; 2 dorsal scale rows starting at 1st dorsal fin and extending onto caudal peduncle; lateral line pores with cirri; preopercular spine large antler-like; pectoral fin rays 14-17
