Dorsal light gray to dark gray, may have vague black ocellus on pectoral fins; ventral white with grayish margins; snout elongated; orbital thorns absent; scapular and nuchal thorns present; mid-dorsal thorns extend from nuchal area to dorsal fins and are continuous or interrupted; tail thorns present; dorsal side covered with fine denticles; tail length equal to or longer than precaudal length
