Body color purplish indigo with red anteriorly and black fins; dorsal and anal connected to caudal fin slightly, caudal fin forked; pectoral fin notched, lower rays of pectoral fin free for much of their length; pelvic disk triangular; gill opening entirely above pectoral fin; pectoral fin rays 32-40.
